Product Description
Detailed Specifications & Features

Semi-Automatic Barrel Electroplating Line

A semi-automatic barrel electroplating line is designed for batch processing of small and loose metal components. The workpieces are loaded into a perforated plating barrel, where electrical contact is established through the internal cathode conduction system.

During plating, the barrel rotates at a controlled speed, allowing the parts to tumble and continuously change position. This movement helps expose different surfaces of the components to the plating solution while metal ions are deposited onto the workpiece surfaces under the applied electric field.

The perforated barrel allows fresh plating solution to circulate through the working area while used solution and hydrogen generated during electroplating are discharged through the barrel openings. This circulation helps maintain effective solution contact and stable plating conditions.

Handling Configuration

  1. Manual Loading & Unloading
Workpieces are manually loaded into and removed from the plating barrel, providing flexibility for different batch sizes and products.

  2. Trolley-Assisted Barrel Lifting
A dedicated trolley is used to lift and position the barrel between process stations.

  3. Manual Transfer
The barrel is manually transferred between designated tanks according to the required process sequence.

  4. Optional Gantry Transporter
To increase handling efficiency, additional gantry transporters with vertical lifting capability can be configured according to the production capacity and line layout.

This configuration combines manual flexibility with mechanical lifting assistance, making it suitable for small-batch and multi-product barrel plating applications.

Why Choose a Semi-Automatic Plating Line?

A semi-automatic plating line is suitable for production environments where process control is important but full automation is not necessary for every handling operation.

Flexible Product Changeover

Operators can participate in loading, unloading or selected transfer operations, making the system suitable for production with different workpiece types and batch sizes.

Controlled Plating Process

PLC-based controls can be used to manage key operating parameters such as process timing, equipment movement, heating and auxiliary equipment according to the configured process.

Practical Automation Investment

Semi-automatic equipment provides a balance between manual operation and automation, making it a practical option for manufacturers upgrading from manual plating processes.

Customized Line Configuration

Tank quantity, plating stations, rinsing sections, rectifiers, filtration, heating, cooling, exhaust treatment and material handling can be configured according to the production requirements.

Suitable for Flexible Production

The system is particularly useful when production involves multiple part types, variable batch sizes or frequent process adjustments.

Main Equipment Configuration

The semi-automatic plating line can be configured with:

  • 304 stainless steel and PP process tanks

  • Steel structural frame

  • Rectifiers for electroplating power supply

  • Filtration and circulation systems

  • Electric, steam or hot-water heating systems

  • Chiller or cooling system when required

  • Manual or operator-assisted material transfer

  • PLC and computer-based control system

  • Air blower and exhaust system

  • Waste gas treatment equipment when required

  • Electrical control cabinet and safety protection devices

The final equipment configuration is determined by the plating process, workpiece specifications, production capacity and workshop conditions.

Semi-Automatic vs. Fully Automatic Plating Lines

Production Requirement Semi-Automatic Line Fully Automatic Line
Different workpiece types Highly flexible Best with standardized production
Frequent product changeover Suitable Requires more automated setup
Operator involvement Operator-assisted Minimal operator intervention
Production volume Small to medium / flexible batches Medium to high-volume production
Automation investment Moderate Higher
Process control PLC-assisted control Integrated automatic control
Customized production Flexible Best for stable, repeatable processes

The appropriate configuration depends on workpiece characteristics, production volume, process sequence, required automation level and available workshop space.
