Aluminum Anodizing Process
Anodic oxidation, commonly known as anodizing, is an electrochemical surface treatment process used to form a protective oxide layer on metals and alloys. For aluminum products, the workpieces are connected as anodes and immersed in a suitable electrolyte while an electrical current is applied under controlled process conditions.
Anodizing improves the surface hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and overall durability of aluminum alloys. It can also enhance the decorative appearance of aluminum products through coloring and controlled oxide-film formation. Unless otherwise specified, anodizing generally refers to sulfuric acid anodizing.
Anodizing Process
Loading → Degreasing → Alkaline Etching → Neutralization → Anodizing → Coloring → Sealing → Drying → Unloading
Automatic Anodizing Line Features
This aluminum anodizing line is designed for fully automatic processing, with manual loading and unloading. The flight bars are transferred between process tanks by an automatic gantry transporter and trolley system.
-
Automatic Process Control
The entire anodizing process is automatically completed according to the preset process program, except for manual loading and unloading. -
Gantry Transporter System
The line can be equipped with multiple gantry transporters according to production capacity and efficiency requirements. Each transporter provides vertical lifting and horizontal movement with high- and low-speed operation for accurate and stable workpiece transfer. -
Easy Operation
The operator only needs to enter the corresponding product code. The control system automatically retrieves the preset process parameters and executes the required treatment sequence. -
Reliable Positioning and Process Management
The gantry transporter uses an absolute positioning system, while each process tank is assigned a unique identification code. This helps ensure accurate positioning and prevents incorrect travel or process errors. -
Multiple Safety Protection Systems
The anodizing line incorporates several safety features to improve operational safety and equipment reliability:-
A collision-avoidance device is installed on the transporter to reduce the risk of contact with surrounding equipment or personnel.
-
Fall-prevention rubber blocks and overspeed/off-track protection devices are installed along both sides of the rails to help prevent the transporter from leaving the track.
-
Safety ropes connected to the emergency braking system are installed along both sides of the line to provide additional protection during operation.
-
Automatic Operation Sequence
The operator first pushes the trolley carrying the flight bar, jigs, and workpieces to the loading station. The product code can then be entered through a barcode scanner, IC card, or computer interface.
After the operator presses the "Load Ready" button, the Industrial PC (IPC) retrieves the corresponding preset process recipe according to the product code and sends the relevant operating instructions to the PLC.
The gantry transporter then automatically lifts the flight bar from the trolley and transfers the workpieces through each treatment tank according to the programmed process sequence. The transporter automatically controls lifting, lowering, horizontal movement, and processing time based on the selected recipe.
After the final treatment and drying process are completed, the flight bar is transferred to the unloading station and placed onto the trolley. An audible reminder notifies the operator that unloading can begin.
The operator then moves the trolley away from the line for offline unloading and presses the "Unload Ready" button to complete the operating cycle.
Process Data Monitoring and Recording
During the entire anodizing process, key operating parameters such as process time, bath temperature, current, and other relevant production data can be transmitted to and stored in the IPC through the control-system communication network.
The recorded process data can be reviewed, saved, and printed for production management, process traceability, quality control, and future reference.
