Zinc Alloy Electroplating Equipment Electroplating Machine
Plastic electroplating is widely used to improve the appearance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and functionality of plastic components. ABS and PP are commonly used electroplating plastics, with ABS accounting for a major share of applications.
ABS consists of acrylonitrile (A), butadiene (B), and styrene (S). During surface roughening, the butadiene component is selectively dissolved to create microscopic roughness, improving the adhesion of subsequent conductive and metal coatings.
For reliable electroplating performance, electroplating-grade ABS should be selected. ABS with approximately 15%–25% butadiene content is commonly used, such as ABS 300# from Japan. Non-electroplating-grade ABS may require stricter control of the roughening process to achieve sufficient surface activation and coating adhesion.

Equipment Overview
This automatic plating line is designed for stable and continuous electroplating production. The equipment combines a rigid steel framework, automatic transporter, PLC control, and variable-speed movement to provide accurate positioning and consistent transfer of workpieces between process tanks.
1. Main Frame
The main frame is fabricated from A3 structural steel. An epoxy protective coating is applied to the external surfaces to improve corrosion resistance. The exterior color can be customized according to the customer's requirements.
2. Structural Design
The supporting structure consists of fixed plates, vertical columns, operator walkways, flat wire, and horizontal adjustment bolts. The layout provides stable equipment support while allowing convenient access for operation, inspection, and maintenance.
3. Transporter and Drive System
The transporter incorporates motors, gear reducers, and dedicated mechanisms for horizontal and vertical jig movement. The drive system is designed for smooth operation, reliable positioning, easy maintenance, and long-term service.
-
The horizontal travel mechanism uses imported geared brake motors to directly drive the traveling wheels.
-
An induction-based deceleration and positioning system is used to improve transporter positioning accuracy.
-
Emergency stop buttons are installed throughout the plating line to provide rapid braking in abnormal operating conditions.
-
The jig lifting mechanism consists of a geared brake motor, coupling, and high-strength acid-resistant and aging-resistant belt for reliable vertical movement.
-
Horizontal travel and vertical lifting speeds are controlled by the PLC and frequency converters.
-
Three selectable speed levels—low, medium, and high—can be configured according to different operating requirements.
-
Multi-stage speed control reduces starting and stopping inertia, helping minimize transporter swing and ensuring smooth movement and accurate positioning.

9. Safety Protection
Emergency stop devices are distributed throughout the equipment to allow operators to quickly stop the system when an abnormal condition occurs, improving overall operational safety.
Zinc Alloy Electroplating Engineering Experience
Zinc alloy die-castings require careful surface preparation because the substrate can be sensitive to aggressive chemical treatment and may contain casting defects that affect coating adhesion and surface appearance.
For this reason, the plating line is designed around controlled pretreatment, copper strike and multi-layer plating processes. The equipment can be configured according to the zinc alloy material, workpiece geometry, required coating structure and production capacity.
During line engineering, our team considers workpiece loading, jig design, tank arrangement, transfer distance, process residence time, current requirements and production cycle time. These factors help achieve stable positioning and repeatable processing throughout the automatic plating sequence.
The system can be customized for decorative and functional zinc alloy plating applications, including copper, nickel and chrome finishing processes.
Quality Control
Each zinc alloy electroplating line is inspected and tested before shipment to verify mechanical, electrical and automation functions.
Our factory inspection includes:
-
Main frame and tank structure inspection
-
Horizontal and vertical transporter movement testing
-
PLC and inverter control testing
-
Sensor and positioning function testing
